@CULT and Casalini Libri: close collaboration for outstanding results!
High interest for our work at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Boston
@CULT was delighted to particpate with Casalini Libri in the American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter Meeting & Exhibits in Boston, thanks to the ever more valuable collaboration between our two companies.
The presentation One Supplier’s Approach to BIBFRAME/Linked Data was given by Tiziana Possemato to the participants of the prestigious “Library of Congress BIBFRAME Update Forum Agenda”, which gathers together newsmakers, software developers and leading influencers in the library world.
The agenda and the presentations can be found on the BIBFRAME website at: http://www.loc.gov/bibframe/news/bibframe-update-mw2016.html
Remaining in step with the most advanced evolutions in the semantic web, and the transition of the MARC format towards Linked Open Data, Casalini Libri – with technological support from @CULT – has committed itself to the study and implementation of projects aimed at supporting such innovation. Most recently, its efforts in this area have been concentrated on the Bibliographic Framework Initiative (BIBFRAME) model in particular.
The principal areas discussed were:
- The enrichment of MARC records to simplify thei conversion into BIBFRAME
- The creation of a FRBR/BIBFRAME layer for bibliographical and Authority records
- The conversionof data into RDF, carried out by OLISuite’s WeCat cataloguing system
- The use of the ALIADA framework to automize the conversion of MARC into RDF
